The term Mommy Makeover (restoration of body composition after pregnancy) describes a complex package of surgical procedures aimed at restoring a woman’s body shape to pre-baby state.
The classic model of such procedures includes abdominoplasty and breast surgeries, but other solutions are also possible: a small-scale tummy tuck, a skin lift only, and a breast lift, reduction or augmentation (with implants). The modern concept of Mommy Makeover has expanded to offer more services: liposuction, fat injections into the buttocks and breasts, vaginal rejuvenation, and labiaplasty.
Although the vast majority of the patients who have undergone these procedures are happy with the results, it is important to be aware of the potential risks and to understand that there are limits to “safe surgery” (i.e. although it is very convenient to undergo one surgery and have one anaesthesia and one healing period, etc., it may not be possible to achieve all the desired goals).
It is generally considered that a planned operation should not last longer than six hours, as the risk factors gradually increase thereafter; therefore, the goal is to keep Mommy Makeover from taking more than four hours. In this case, a second surgery may be required to achieve the desired result.
The dream of regaining a flatter tummy and more beautiful breasts may encourage many patients to turn to the SV Plastic Surgery Centre, where they will be given the opportunity to regain the lost shapes of a nice body.
However, women should remember that there is no need to rush to the plastic surgeon immediately after giving birth. It is recommended to wait at least six months after giving birth and for another six months after the end of breastfeeding. During that time, the uterus and breast tissues contract, and a woman’s body recovers from the stress of pregnancy and childbirth.
Postoperative period
After the aforementioned surgeries, the surgical sutures are removed after 10 to 14 days.
Ability to work returns after 2 to 3 weeks.
