It attracts attention and expresses emotions.<\/p>\n<p>Excess eyelid skin, bags under the eyes and saggy eyelid skin makes a person look tired and older.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SURGERY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The surgery volume of the lower eyelids is estimated after consultation with a plastic surgeon, assessing whether there is a fatty hernia, excess skin, or deep, sunken eyes. Depending on the volume of the surgery, either general or local anaesthesia is applied. To remove excess fat deposits (hernias) only, an internal (transconjunctival) incision is made in the lining of the eyelid. Fat is either redistributed or removed. In this case, there is no healing scar on the skin at all. Local anaesthesia is usually recommended.<\/p>\n<p>If you have not only fatty bags, but also excess skin under the eyes, then a skin incision below the eyelashes is made and the excess skin is removed.<\/p>\n<p>If the lower bags are very prominent and there is a lot of excess skin, a combined operation to lift the lower eyelids and the eyelid line is performed. In this case, the skin incision is made below the line of lower eyelid lashes and several fixation sutures are used to lift the upper part of the cheek.<\/p>\n<p><strong>OPERATIONAL RISK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Like any intervention, lower eyelid surgery may have side effects. These include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>reaction to anaesthesia;<\/li>\n<li>eye irritation;<\/li>\n<li>wound infection;<\/li>\n<li>bleeding from the operated place; and<\/li>\n<li>wound hypertrophy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We recommend discussing possible complications with your plastic surgeon during\u00a0 consultation. Please bear in mind that side effects are highly dependent on how the specialist\u2019s instructions are followed after the surgery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>POST-OPERATIVE PERIOD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Healing lasts for about two weeks, but after a few days it is possible to return to the normal routine, avoiding increased physical activity.<\/p>\n<p>Sunglasses help mask bruising and swelling in the eyelid area that disappear within a few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Post-operative wounds heal in two to three weeks. The scars heal completely within a year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RESULTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Changes after the surgery are clearly visible immediately.
